Hotels and motels in Bethany Beach are few and far between, with most people choosing to rent from the array of condominiums, townhouses and beach homes available throughout the area. Today, those choices are expanding as new off-beach resort communities spring up inland.
The good news is, you can probably find whatever type of accommodations you wish at Bethany Beach. These include:
- Hotels and Motels: There are only a handful, but they do provide a simple alternative to the rental market. Summers do bring high rates and sometimes have a minimum stay requirement. Don't count on a last minute reservation during peak season, plan to book early.
- Property Rentals: Rental properties abound, from small cottages off the beaten path to multi-million oceanfront mansions in gated communities . A local realtor can help point you in the right direction, and you can glean quite a bit of information (and some online bookings) via the Internet.
- Resorts: Oceanfront condominium high-rises to the East and townhomes and beach homes to the West comprise Sea Colony, one of the largest resorts in the area. Numerous Pools, tennis, a fitness center and shuttle bus are some of the features of this highly popular resort. New inland resorts, such as Bear Trap Dunes, are designed around attractors such as golf courses. Rentals can be researched online or through local realtors and rental catalogs.
- Bed and Breakfast: Also few and far between, but there are a couple of choices including the adults-only Victorian Addy Sea.
- Beach Cottages: Within Delaware Seashore State Park are a dozen not-so-rustic beach cottages available for rent.
- Camping: Although camping on the beach is not allowed in Bethany, there are designated campgrounds suitable for the backpacker or RV camper near the ocean and bay areas.
