Attractions

The main attraction at Bethany Beach is ... the beach. But there's plenty to do on a rainy day, or off-season, or if you just want to shake the sand out of your shorts for a day.

The boardwalk at Bethany Beach isn't packed with amusements like it is in neighboring Ocean City or Rehoboth Beach, but the town bandstand hosts entertainment throughout the summer, and ice cream and boardwalk fries provide a nice complement to the evening. If the kids are jonesing for an arcade, Grotto Pizza offers a small but satisfying fix with a number of video and arcade games, Skee-Ball and even a number of games perfect for even the youngest players. The nearby Viking Golf Theme Park fills the bill where a small arcade won't.

The nearby Indian River Lifesaving Museum and DiscoverSea Shipwreck Museum are cultural gems. The soon-to-be expanded library, the state parks and nature preserves, and enjoyable boutique shopping along Garfield Parkway add up to a complete getaway without having to wander much past the town limits. When the crowds and traffic lighten up off-season, it's an ideal time for a day trip from Bethany Beach, and the possibilites open.
